Battle Back

Battle Back was the inspiration of Lieutenant Colonel Fred Hargreaves. It is a Tri-Service initiative.

Battle Back's Ist Anniversary newsletter (Oct 09) is here

Battle Back is not a charity, it uses public Adventurous Training and Sport funds to provide the same level of opportunity to seriously injured Service personnel as available to able-bodied personnel.  All seriously injured Service personnel are eligible to participate in correctly authorised and organised AT and Sport opportunities, including overseas expeditions.

Olympic Dream

Please see poster above and if interested please respond to Malcolm direct. Great opportunity.

"First of all let me introduce myself, I am currently coaching Derek Derenalagi and I lent Dr Jen Warren a wheelchair for her African trip, as well as giving her some advice on her training program.  I am a performance athletic coach (throws and wheelchair) and currently coach both able bodied and athletes with disability (three world ranked athletes) have a son who is a l/cpl in the RE 33 regiment BD.  I have been to Headley Court and have helped other wounded soldiers get back into some training via my coaching contacts throughout the UK. I work out of Watford’s Woodside Stadium and I also work at Lee Valley high performance centre during the mornings.

"The reason for writing to you is that we now have less than two years to the Paralympics and I am sure that many of your soldiers would like to be involved in some format.  I would like to help them achieve their ambitions and I am willing to help by coaching, talking to and offering my training facilities to your organisation. Although I coach I am also an athletic official and maybe this option maybe one that your soldiers would be interested in developing.

Regards

Malcolm Wallace, Chair Herts Athletic Network Performance coach
