Battle Back

Battle Back was the inspiration of Lieutenant Colonel Fred Hargreaves. It is a Tri-Service initiative.

Battle Back's Ist Anniversary newsletter (Oct 09) is here

Battle Back is not a charity, it uses public Adventurous Training and Sport funds to provide the same level of opportunity to seriously injured Service personnel as available to able-bodied personnel.  All seriously injured Service personnel are eligible to participate in correctly authorised and organised AT and Sport opportunities, including overseas expeditions.

SEPTEMBER 10

Clay Pigeon Shooting

There is going to be a Tester Adaptive Clay Pigeon Shooting day be run on the 29 Sep 10 at Bramley Training Area. The intention is to identify personnel who would be interested in forming an adaptive team for and eventually challenge other civilian adaptive shooting clubs and develop an  adaptive shooting competition within our able body Army championships. Also to include adaptive shooters in the  team training shoots.

If you have never done it before than come and give it a try.

Please feel free to contact me for more details

Military Paralympic Sport Camp - San Diego

For the past two years Battle Back have been invited to take part in a multi-activity Military Paralympic sports camp at several venues in San Diego, California, USA.  The camp runs from 2-8 Oct but we will typically add two days either side of this for travel, acclimatisation and R&R.  Places are in short supply (only 6) so they will be allocated to those who have not attended previously in the first instance and then to those who have been before.

If you are still receiving blocks of full time rehab at Headley and have an admission in early Oct then this camp is not for you as it will be difficult to negotiate the time off.  If you do have or could get the time off then just send me a scan of your passport as a first step.  If I receive more than 6 applications then I will simply draw lots for the lucky 6 and the remainder will be placed on a short list.

No time wasters please because I will have to book the flights soon so unless you are 100% certain that you can attend then please don't apply because it's not possible to change the flights at short notice and we would loose a place.

If you have seen my last e-mail from work you will know that I have now moved on from BB but have agreed to run this camp for my successor, Maj Dougie Peters, as part of our extended handover.  I look forward to receiving your applications soon.  Please note that this camp is extremely hard work, just ask those who have attended like Joe Townsend and Derek Derenalagi, but it's great fun and California is beautiful this time of year :-)

For further information please contact martin direct or WO2 Spence Norman BBWO by return email

Regards,

Martin Colclough

Details of all these and more will follow nearer the time...

Don't miss out and get in quickly.....

If on a pensionable engagement, would less generous pension terms cause you to consider leaving the RAF?
