Following the extension of marriage to same sex couples, the MoD has amended the Armed Forces and Reserve Forces Pension scheme rules. The benefits for surviving same sex spouses are provided on the same basis as those for surviving civil partners.

Soldier Magazine bans advert highlighting plight of Service Widows if they remarry

A story in today's Times claims the MoD is censoring an advertisement in internal Service publications that highlights the plight of widows who lose the rights to claim their spouse's pension if they remarry. Publications include Soldier magazine, RAF News and Navy News.
