You are here : The Federation / Ann Dewar
As Communications Manager at the RAF Families Federation I am responsible for the overall marketing and communications strategy and function of the Federation.
I joined the RAF as an Admin (Sec) Officer after completing a degree in Geology and Geography at Plymouth. During my seven years short service commission I experienced life at Cranwell, Wyton, Hereford, Upavon, the RAF Careers Office in London and finally Cottesmore, an area that I seem to bounce back to with increasing regularity. For me there was never a dull moment in the airforce with detachments and expeds providing welcome ways of seeing more of the UK and getting abroad.
Following my career in the RAF I went off to civvy street. Here I was able to braoden my experience in the areas of recruitment and public relations before joining the RAF Benevolent Fund where I spent a happy four years, initially in the Finance Department and then as Assistant Director PR and Marketing.
I have spent some years as a service wife, enjoying tours in the UK, Germany and Northern Ireland. I have a son Joe, who is in year two at school and a Springer Spaniel, both of whom run me ragged. I enjoy the outdoors and skiing is a passion, although until I get young Joe on planks, it is a bit of a distant one. (now acheived to his delight!) Joe and I also enjoy Karate and finds the idea of us both being in the same class highly amusing.
As a Service person living in SFA, have you ever had to take leave to wait at home for a contractor? If so, please answer 'yes' and click on the brown ‘Have your Say’ block and let us know how much leave you have lost this way in the last 12 months.
