RAF Personnel Policies
Introduction
This area of the website is intended to provide general guidance for those who want to understand, in general terms, those RAF personnel policies that impact on families, either directly or indirectly.
Family Members
Family members who do not have access to the Intranet and other sources of information on RAF policy may find this section of the website particularly useful but we hope it will be a valuable guide for serving personnel too, particularly those new to the Service who may not yet know where all the policy documents are kept.
Serving Personnel
Serving personnel accessing this site can use the Intranet to find all the detail they require in the relevant Joint Service Publications (JSPs) or Air Publications (APs). Alternatively, they can speak with the Personnel staffs at unit level, or to the Joint Personnel Administration Helpdesk team. Some policies are also available via other Internet websites – the RAF website with the RAF Community Support pages, the MOD website, etc, and family members can access the Intranet via the local HIVE.
Just a Guide
We know however, that for many (including serving personnel), the myriad of websites is extremely confusing, access to the HIVE may not be possible and all you want is a simple guide that you can access from home or from your office. The Federation has therefore undertaken to provide such a guide.
Be Aware
Readers will however, need to be aware that we can only print information on those personnel policies that are generally available to Service personnel – albeit you’ll be pleased to hear that this covers the vast majority of personnel policies. In some circumstances, for good management reasons, the RAF holds certain policies on a restricted access basis. If this is the case, we will let you know the policy exists and it will then be for the individual to pursue any enquiries they have with the relevant Service authorities.
Can't Do it Overnight!
One further word of caution: this is an area of the website that will take some time to develop so bear with us – we can’t write it overnight! On the list to the left, you will see the links to the policy areas that are currently available. If you have a burning desire to know about a specific policy, please get in touch and we will add it to our list.
