A concert held in commemoration of the Battle of Britain raises much needed funds for RAF KIDZ nursey at RAF Odiham.
The concert was organised by the RAFA Fleet branch chairman, John Donnelly, and his wife Gill and the funds raised were donated to the RAFA KIDS nursery at Odiham. The concert took place at All Saints Church, Odiham and included performances from ‘Hampshire Harmony’ and ‘Romsey voices’ as well as soloist Theresa Lunn.
Gill Donnelly comments on how the concert came about:
“The Fleet Branch of RAFA were pleased to be invited to host a concert in All Saints Church, Odiham by Air Chief Marshal Sir Joe French, the President of Hampshire Harmony Choir and at one time Station Commander of RAF Odiham.
My husband John Donnelly, who is Chairman of the Fleet Branch, and I lived at RAF Odiham for 13 years. During that time both our daughters worked at the Station Nursery School so we are very aware of the problems funding service nursery schools. Therefore, we decided an ideal recipient of money raised from the Concert would be for RAFA KIDZ RAF Odiham. Our visit to RAFA KIDZ to present a £900 cheque to the Manager Kate Richards brought back happy memories of my time working in nursery schools at RAF Valley, Shawbury and Hong Kong.”
RAFA KIDZ Odiham will use the funds donated for resources to support the children’s continued learning and development.
