The RAF Family – experiences from around the world

Our survey into the experiences of RAF personnel and families living overseas has now closed.

The survey was part of a wider piece of research into the experiences of RAF families posted to overseas locations.  This research aims to investigate the extent to which these families enjoy living overseas, what challenges they have to overcome, and how well supported they feel.  Once a report is available you will be able to find this on our Reports page.  Our prize draw winner will be contacted by email, so please keep an eye out if you entered!

If you are currently experiencing an issue related to Service life then please remember that you can contact us via our Report an Issue form – our team can help, no matter where you are in the world.

About this survey

This questionnaire is being carried out by the RAF Families Federation as part of the Dispersed Families Project.  Our survey aims to gather information about the ‘overseas experience’ for RAF families. We would like to hear from RAF Serving Personnel and their spouses/partners who are currently overseas, or who have returned from an overseas assignment within the past 12 months.

What is the survey about?

The survey is part of a wider piece of research into the experiences of RAF families posted to overseas locations.  This research aims to investigate the extent to which these families enjoy living overseas, what challenges they have to overcome, and how well supported they feel.  The survey will ask questions about areas such as accommodation, education and welfare provision, in order to improve our understanding of these aspects of overseas living.  We estimate that this will take you about 15-20 minutes.

Why should I take part?

By taking part you will provide valuable evidence that will be used to inform future support and policy for overseas assignments within the RAF.  You may also find it helpful to share your views and read about the experiences of other families through the project report.  Those completing the survey can elect to be entered into a prize draw; one randomly selected entrant will win a £500 Flightgiftcard voucher (Terms and Conditions apply; these are available on our website).

How can I complete the survey?

Our online survey is enabled for desktop or laptop computers, tablets, and mobile phones.  However we would recommend completion on a computer wherever possible as you will find this easier and quicker.
