We are recruiting on behalf of RAFA Kidz (a wholly owned subsidiary of the RAF Association) We have excellent and rewarding opportunities for passionate and enthusiastic practitioners with childcare experience to work flexibly to join our friendly team at our vibrant nursery which supports the RAF family based in Odiham. Due to the expansion of the nursery we are now looking to recruit 2 Practitioners who hold a Level 3 certificate in EYFS or equivalent relevant sector.

Salary: £9.60 – £10.10 per hour 22.5 hours per week worked Monday to Friday 1.30pm – 6pm

Our busy Contact Centre has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Customer Care Advisor to help us make sure serving and veteran RAF personnel (and their families) get the help and support they deserve.

Requirements of Customer Care Advisor

  • GCSE’s grade C or above or equivalent experience working within a busy customer service / contact centre environment
  • Experience of delivering high quality customer care
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft packages
  • Experience in using CRM systems or similar databases
  • Proven track record of handling large volumes of inbound/outbound calls in a sensitive manner
  • Previous experience of processing financial transactions

Responsibilities of Customer Care Advisor

  • Deliver outstanding customer service and offer advice via multi-channel communications
  • Action and distribute all enquiries in a warm and sensitive manner, both verbally and in writing

The Royal Air Forces Association has an exciting opportunity for a high calibre graduate with a good understanding of the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the wider military charity sector.  This is a high profile, public-facing and customer-driven role to promote the aims and objectives of the Association.  The REO will be able to evidence a comprehensive understanding of charity, retail hospitality and leisure legislation, in addition to planning and executing engagement campaigns with Chief Executives of Local Authorities (LA), Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Associations (RFCAs), Station Commanders of RAF Stations, Business and Industry, to raise the profile of the Association and promote all aspects of its work.  The REO role is very much at centre stage in the public domain and the successful candidate will quickly need to demonstrate the ability to establish trust, respect and credibility with all of the principal stakeholders in the public, private and charitable sectors.  The post holder will be able to direct and guide the Association’s branch and branch club officers and committee members to create independence and resilience by developing their understanding of management, membership and governance responsibilities. 

Requirements of the post holder include:

  • Branch Engagement – providing guidance, advice and support to Branches to:
  • Maintain and increase the sustainability and viability of branches.
  • Connect branches with serving personnel, Armed Forces Champions and business leaders through the delivery of polished presentations on RAF Stations, Veteran Forums and business events.
  • Increase the number of Ordinary and Associate members.
  • Monitor, track and report branch and club annual reporting requirements as per charity legislation and Association governance.
  • Station Engagement:
  • Present a very professional, knowledgeable and capable image of the Association across Station stakeholder groups.
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with RAF Station Executives to promote the work of the Association, and communicate current messages for defined outcomes.
  • Direct support at Station Families Days, with RAF Association Liaison Officers (RAFALOs) and local branches, to seek maximum recruitment opportunities with serving RAF personnel and their families and increase awareness of the Association.
  • Support the Branch Membership Operations and Plans Team with events such as Association Conferences, public recruitment drives, Battle of Britain Week, Remembrance, Armed Forces Day and specific Association flagship/commemorative events etc.
  • Wider Engagement:
  • Promote the work and ethos of the Association through engagement within the wider charity sector, local authorities, veterans groups, RFCAs and the business community.
  • Undertake professional representation of the Association with devolved administrations in parts of the UK, where applicable.

Requirements of Post Holder include:

  • Qualified to Level 5, foundation degree or equivalent in management, leadership, sales or marketing.
  • Significant experience of relationship management or customer-based account management.
  • Significant experience of identifying risk and undertaking risk assessments.
  • Refined analytical skills to interpret business plans and annual accounts.
  • Significant ability in embracing and driving change in pursuit of excellence.
  • Highly developed communication skills as a presenter in an ambassadorial role.
  • Ability to explain governance and financial matters to those with little or no knowledge.
  • A clean driving licence and previous experience of driving small commercial vehicles with the ability to tow is an essential requirement for this role.

Communication and Relationships

  • Manage relationships with branches and branch clubs to provide guidance about governance, club and gaming licencing, property management, employment, health and safety, financial management, and ceremonial matters.
  • Manage representative engagement at Chief Executive level (Station Executive level).
  • Manage relationships with all stakeholders in a professional manner to achieve highly successful outcomes for the Association.
  • Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate a variety of membership engagement plans to sustain and grow membership.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to your own development, by taking advantage of education and training opportunities with the RAF Association.

FRONT END WEB DEVELOPER AT RAF ASSOCIATION LEICESTER LE3 1UT

We have a newly created role for an experienced Web Developer to lead the design, development and testing of the RAF Association group’s web properties  to ensure they offer marketing leading experiences and engagement opportunities for beneficiaries, members, supporters and volunteers. The post holder will also lead the architecture, design and development of websites and landing page experiences for the whole of the Association and also utilise the Association’s CRM system (Salesforce) by ensuring a collaborative relationship with the CRM team in order to develop solutions that complement and enhance performance across properties and systems

Responsibilities of Post Holder include

  • Working with colleagues in the Engagement team and wider Association design, architect, build and manage web based experiences that support the Association’s strategic supporter acquisition and retention objectives.
  • Develop, configure and maintain ‘sandbox’ environments to facilitate successful development and QA testing of new experiences and manage deployment of new experiences from sandbox into a production environment.
  • Manage the codebase across the entire group’s websites to ensure version control best practice.
  • Proactively identify areas for web improvement and designing solutions to suit new technologies, usability trends and regulation (e.g. accessibility guidelines, GDPR, etc)
  • Working closely with the relevant team, ensure website experience development aligns with APIs or webhooks to integrate with other applications (e.g. Salesforce, etc).
  • Work with third party web design agencies to ensure compliance with Association coding and security standards. 
  • Develop and implement training and documentation to support the end-users of your developed solutions.
  • Working knowledge of CMS database platforms such as MySQL.
  • Working knowledge of API interfaces, webhooks, or web services using SOAP, WSDL or REST techniques.

Requirements of Post Holder include

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant subject (computer science, digital design etc.)
  • Expert understanding of UX principles across desktop and mobile devices.
  • Exceptional UI design skills and experience using Adobe XD or similar.
  • Strong skills with PHP within a WordPress context or similar CMS.
  • Advanced hand-coding skills with HTML5 & CSS3.
  • Skilled with JavaScript, JQuery and/or similar libraries
  • Strong awareness of web security standards and front-end development best practice.
  • Experience providing end-user support for trouble shooting website issues.
  • Strong knowledge of PHP, particularly within a content management system (CMS) architecture such as WordPress or Drupal also HTML, CSS, XML and JavaScript (including JavaScript libraries)
