Gift shopping through our military spouses in business
It’s great supporting our own community within the Armed Forces and when looking for interesting gifts to buy for loved ones. Here are just some of the amazing businesses run by our military spouses.
Gifts and greeting cards
Asali offers aviation inspired leather gifts: All our products are made from genuine leather and those in the military range hold a genuine license from the MOD. We donate a portion of revenue from every sale to selected charities.
B’s Clothing and Gifts
B’s Clothing & Gifts, started when we couldn’t find wheelchair decals for our youngest daughter. We bought the equipment to make our own, and have continued to grow from there. We make merchandise for the CdLS foundation UK and Ireland charity (donating £1 from the sale of those items).
We can source a large variety of clothing, mugs and gifts to personalise to customer requirements.
Also on Facebook.
Clare’s Candles and Little Helpers
I run a business called Clare’s Candles, and I handmade chemical free candles and an Aromatherapy pocket tin called Little Helpers.
As a military wife, I see often the effects that deployments and the military lifestyle can have on families, and the Aromatherapist in me wanted to produce a discreet and practical product to help and Little Helpers Pocket Aromatherapy tins were born.
They are just wax containing Essential oils and you simply pop the lid open, gave 2/3 deep breaths and let the Essential Oils work their magic! I wanted them to be discreet as anxiety issues still have a stigma, and some people don’t want to walk around smelling of Essential Oils.
Cheeky Chuckles Gifts
Cheeky Chuckles Gifts offers are a more adult range of vinyl and etched gifts, I am not easily offended. I can do complete items, or just vinyl for you to add to your own item.
1098 make military inspired bags, made by military dependants for military charities. We use top quality fabrics that are brand new but would otherwise have ended up in landfill and a percentage of each sale goes to a military charity, so if the bag had RAF on it a donation will be made to the RAF Benevolent fund, RM and it goes to the Royal Marines Charity.
1098 bags not only support our own but support charity and the environment and as each one is handmade using an ever changing supply of fabrics they are also unique!

Dexters Soft Designs
As a mum and the wife of a soldier I understand how hard it is to part with any clothes or blankets that our babies had, or for their dad to be away a lot. So, I decided to start up Dexters Soft Designs and take the idea to make something that I held dear and make it into something that my children can keep close to them, making a teddy bear out of their clothes or their daddy’s shirt to remind them of him whilst he is away, and provide them some comfort too!
Each stuffed animal I make can be personalised with appliqué names, dates, military badges! Simply provide me with the material, one large men’s shirt can make an animal, and any badges you require and I will work my magic to provide you with the best quality stuffed animal!

Moo Prints began in 2016 with a small painting of a Highland cow. It was posted on social media and instantly gained popularity amongst friends and work colleagues. When people kept asking for copies, I had my paintings made into prints and have carried on adding to them ever since. Any profit is donated to charity and we have been able to support projects in Thailand, Ethiopia and Kenya as well as more local projects including Heswall Children’s camps and more recently a drop in cafe anyone who needs a friendly ear in our local town of Forres.
‘Moo’ is the name of the original cow, and also the nickname of the artist’s daughter who also makes bags with my designs on them. Living on the beautiful Moray Firth provides plenty of inspiration for my paintings whilst commuting to London for my ‘real job’ as an airline captain gives me time to paint. In 2018 we expanded our products to include aprons, tea towels, coasters and mugs to the cards and prints, and we are currently looking at adding calendars and table mats.
You can also find us on our Facebook and Instagram pages both named Moo Prints.

Rainbow Sensory Gifts
I run an online baby/toddler store called Rainbow Sensory Gifts. I create sensory play bags for parents to use at home with their babies to help support their development. I am a primary school teacher myself and decided to start my business to encourage parents play at home with their babies whilst in turn supporting their development. The sensory bags consists of items to stimulate babies senses and come with a comprehensive play guide with ideas how to use each item.
Alongside the popular sensory play bags – I also stock a range of high quality wooden toys for babies/toddlers – again to support development through play. I also put together monthly sensory story sacks linked to a theme to encourage an early love of reading.

8901 designs can be found on stylish homewares in some of the leading national charities online shops. The National Museum of the Royal Navy has our bespoke range of designs of aircraft, anchors and WW2 personnel encompassing all their museums, on a huge selection of gifts and for the RNLI we have just completed their new ‘At Sea’ range of homewares and stationery, as well as collection of men’s T-shirts and their Christmas card for this year.
8901 promotes predominantly military charities, as we come from a military background and were on the Falklands during the invasion and set up 8901 to support charities and to give something back to those who had done so much for us.
So for beautiful homewares from bone china mugs, tea towels, oven gloves, stationery, aprons, mens T-shirts and even socks, 8901 designs ensure you are giving amazing gifts knowing that every penny goes to the charity. You can also find our quirky and military themed gift cards on our site.
Military daughter, Jenny McCormick runs BOON Gives which brings UK charities of all causes to the fore of the mind, making it easier for customers to support and buy from a multitude of charities, including the NMRN and RNRMC, offering them an alternative to high street stores. The beauty of BOON Gives is that small, lesser known charities get coverage for their amazing products and their cause. The number of partnered charities is ever increasing and we’d love to see more Armed Forces charities benefit from the site. It doesn’t cost them anything and their products are promoted through social media campaigns. It is a one-stop site for all new, everyday or exclusive products that help support the causes that matter to people.
The ultimate channel for the socially conscious shopper.
Mini First Aid
Life can be challenging for military spouses, with partners who can be away for months at a time. Kayleigh McDine is proving that Military Mums can be successful in running their own flexible business whilst juggling family life. Kayleigh runs Mini First Aid Highlands which offers first aid classes for all the family right across the Highlands, Islands and Morayshire.
“As a military mum myself, I know only too well how vital having first aid knowledge can be! The Highlands are more rural when compared to other postings. I wanted to make sure if something happened to me when my husband was deployed that my daughter would know what to do. This was my whole inspiration to get the parents, grandparents, carers and children of the North of Scotland able to respond if there was a first aid situation.”
Mini First Aid Highlands offers two hour baby & toddler first aid classes for small groups of parents and carers. Classes are friendly but informative and cover choking, basic life support, dealing with burns, breaks and bumps, febrile seizures & meningitis awareness. A class costs £18 per person with MOD discount.
To book a class, please visit highlands.minifirstaid.co.uk
Classes are taught by myself, local mum of 2! I am a qualified Paediatric First Aid Instructor and Baby & Pre-school Swimming Teacher. You may also find me on poolside, as I am a lifeguard. I had been looking to do something alongside my swimming when I came across Mini First Aid. Lifesaving is always my favourite part of our monthly lifeguard training! I love both my jobs and they compliment each other very well. I get to combine the skills I have learnt with my passion for first aid. It’s a win win!
