Thanks to generous support from The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) is giving military spouses and partners the chance to upskill in social media marketing techniques absolutely free.  Applications open in May ’19.

We know that military spouses and partners face unique challenges when looking for reliable work that fits around military family life.

They are often required to move at short notice and must potentially shoulder all the childcare responsibilities on their own.

Being sent on an overseas posting may also seem like fun, but it comes with career breaks and difficulty accessing training opportunities.

A comprehensive report from the Army Families Federation reveals these issues in depth.

“The main barriers to military spousal employment centre around childcare; postings and deployment; ability to keep up with training and professional development; lack of (re)training opportunities; having to change career path; and MOD reluctance to support military spouses/partners and the general military culture.”

There has been an increase in support for military spouses to start their own business. However, no other course provides detailed training on the use of social media to grow your business or as a sought-after skill for employers.

The course is for both those looking to break into a flexible career in social media, and those who run their own businesses and will be delivered through a combination of online learning, video meetings and social media over 12-weeks. You will learn:

  • The workings of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn’s algorithms, along with effective strategies to make content stand out
  • How to plan, implement and evaluate social media campaigns
  • Techniques to grow and engage an audience, moderate comments and discussions, and how to deal with difficult situations
  • How to take truly show-stopping images and create professional social media videos using your phone
  • Paid-for advertising on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • How to use each of the platform’s built-in analytics tools

Course Leader Jackie Rautenbach, BFBS Social Media Manager said:

“As a military wife I understand the challenges that spouses and partners face when trying to find employment that fits around military life. I’m incredibly excited about this course, I know we’re going to change hundreds of lives across the world.”

Sign up to the newsletter or join the Facebook group to be the first to know when applications open in May 2019.
