Mavgeeks, the ultimate podcast for military aviation enthusiasts, is now available on Apple, Spotify, Google Podcasts, YouTube and bfbs.com/podcasts.
Each episode follows military aircraft superfans Gini and Jamie as they speak to the pilots, air crew and ground crew who flew, fixed, loved and sometimes even hated these incredible flying machines.
Working for military charity and media organisation BFBS, the Mavgeeks presenters gain access to military aircraft which are often inaccessible to civilians and ask the questions that every military aircraft enthusiast wants to know.
The 6 Dec episode follows the presenters as they get exclusive access to RAF Fylingdales, the Royal Air Force Station which provides a continuous ballistic missile early warning service to the UK and US governments.
Listen as Space Analyst Lacey Harrison and Flight Lieutenant Richie Weeks talk them through what it truly means to have your eyes on the skies 24/7, and how RAF Fylingdales plays its part in protecting those who live and work in space.
Previous episodes include an interview with former Royal Navy pilot Andrew Neofytou who flew the mighty Sea Harrier. Hear him talk about smashed canopies at 30,000 feet, engine malfunctions, and being flung off the side of an aircraft carrier.
They also speak to Jo Salter MBE, Britain’s first female fast jet pilot, and Squadron Leader Al Spence from 30 Squadron, who talks about the A400 Atlas, and what it was like to be involved in the first mid-air refuelling of that aircraft.
