Amey supports MOD Abbey Wood Families Day

MOD Abbey Wood is located within our Regional Prime South West contract, where Amey provides services that range from maintaining the buildings under the Hard FM scope, to catering, cleaning and meeting room bookings under the Soft FM scope.

The 12,500 civil servants and military personnel working in Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) are responsible, amongst other things, for buying and supporting ships, submarines, aircraft, vehicles, weapons, food, clothing and medical supplies for our Armed Forces.

Each year, the DE&S Infrastructure team organise a Families Day with the aim of providing staff with the opportunity to invite their families into the workplace not only to understand a little more about their roles, but to also learn about the DE&S business.

As you can imagine, the Families Day, which is held over two days, attracts a huge number of visitors and Amey teams are responsible for setting up the whole site. This includes booking and processing visitors through the main gate, making sure that more than 100 display tables are located across all areas of the site, setting up three outdoor barbecues and all other catering facilities, with the support from our suppliers Aramark, and ensuring areas are kept clean and tidy, before, during and after the event.

Sally Wilkins, Head of Establishment DE&S, was delighted with the smooth running of the operation and said:

“Thank you for the professional service Amey gave to our Family Day events this year. I am very thankful that the Amey team supported us as experience shows that these events are greatly valued by our staff and their families and are a tremendous boost to the morale of everyone on site. The feedback from staff and guests has been very positive and I’m delighted with how the event was run; the effort from the teams at Amey contributed to making this a memorable occasion for all our visitors.”
