Amey volunteers refurbish RAF Honington’s community centre

RAF Honington, in Suffolk, is the home of RAF Force Protection who are responsible for protecting the RAF at home and abroad. Over 1,500 Service personnel, civil servants and contractors work at the site so having somewhere to hold events, functions and meetings is an important part of keeping the site operational.

Earlier this year, an Amey team in our Regional Prime Central contract joined forces with local supply chain partners, Dodd Group, to carry out some volunteering work within the RAF Honington community centre. The work consisted of refurbishing an uninviting and unused room by carrying out a lighting upgrade, the removal of window bars and a full decoration of the interior. Additional support was provided by Novus, a decorating specialist, and Rexel, who kindly donated the LED lighting free of charge!

The whole Service community at RAF Honington have not only benefited from having a clean space at zero cost but are now able to use this multi-functional area for a whole host of community based events.
