Coronavirus advice to BFPO customers

The current situation across the BFPO world-wide mail distribution network is that all mail routes to Italy and Norway are currently suspended and there are restrictions on routes to Kuwait. BFPO are also monitoring and anticipating disruption to services to USA, Canada, Estonia, Spain and Belize in the coming days/weeks as the service provision picture continues to change. The situation within the EU continues to change daily and BFPO mail delivery companies have suspended all ‘timed delivery’ guarantees to all EU locations until further notice.

The length of BFPO service suspensions/disruptions has not yet been established and it is anticipated that this will endure for a number of weeks as a minimum. BFPO customers are strongly advised at this time:

  • not to place commercial orders or post mail destined for delivery in all Italian/Norwegian overseas defence community locations via the BFPO system until further notice
  • cease reliance on commercial orders or mail destined for delivery in all other locations highlighted as ‘at risk’ above via the BFPO system until further notice
  • customers who are expecting mail already within the mail system should expect delays and mail which is unable to be moved forward will be securely stored at BFPO Northolt in the short term
  • customers are reminded that BFPO do not offer a guaranteed timed service and hold no liability for items which are perishable, out of date or unusable at the point of receipt.

All other routes are business as usual at present but as you are aware the situation is constantly evolving and so BFPO continue to monitor guidance being issued by Her Majesty’s Government, Public Health England and the World Health Organisation and our commercial partners.
