How to use Forces Families Jobs when searching for a new role
If you are partner or family member of someone who is Serving, or who has left the Armed Forces in the last year then Forces Families Jobs (FFJ) is for you. Here are some tips on how to make the most of this free site to its maximum in your job search.
Search for a role
First things first, explore the whole website. You can use the Quick Job Search on the FFJ homepage to see what’s out there currently and if you find a job straight away then simply click ‘apply’ from the desired role you are after and follow the online application process.
Get registered for job updates
If the job you are particularly looking for isn’t yet there, then it’s worth considering registering on Forces Families Jobs. Job vacancies are added daily from employers who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and by registering or setting up a job alert you will then pro-actively receive new job notifications directly into your inbox daily, weekly, or moments after the job is posted – whichever level you set your preferences at.
Use the CV Builder
Both the Job Seeker and Registration routes provide the facility to upload your CV. The registration form also offers you access to a CV Builder so a bonus if you haven’t yet got that far in your job hunting planning. By uploading your CV, you will also be made visible in the candidate database, which is searched by prospective employers looking to fill their vacancies, maximising your chance of finding a new job through Forces Families Jobs.
There is also check-box too for receiving offers and communications from FFJ and your relevant Families Federation – this is quite useful because whilst we don’t over-use it, we will drop you the occasional email with FFJ tips, latest employment support news that’s there for you as a military family member.
We would love to hear from you on your journey to employment through FFJ so please do keep in touch with us. It’s wonderful to hear your experiences and share your stories with other family members.
