Recruit for Spouses Career Academy launches free online financial bootcamp in response to cost of living

The Recruit for Spouses (RFS) Career Academy is launching a month-long Financial Bootcamp in November, in response to the rising cost of living. This Bootcamp aims to assist military families in becoming more confident and competent when it comes to managing and understanding finances, financial planning and understanding the current financial landscape.

To achieve this, the RFS Career Academy have enlisted the help of industry experts in the field of finance and money management to host a series of live workshops and Q&A sessions on the RFS YouTube channel, with both afternoon and evening sessions scheduled to give everyone who wants to the chance to attend.

Jennifer Lothian and Mark Williams will be hosting three workshops across six sessions in November. Whilst Sandro Forte and Jade Stock will each be hosting a stand-alone workshop and Q&A.

Industry experts running the RFS financial ‘cost of living’ bootcamps

Jennifer Lothian is CEO & Founder of My Ark, an app which aims to take the stress out of life admin and legacy planning. Jennifer has held leadership roles in top tier financial organisations for 12 years, including Merrill Lynch and Octopus. She was also Captain in the Royal Regiment of Artillery and served in Afghanistan, Belize, Cyprus, Germany & UK.

“My Ark has been built from personal experience of being under-prepared for life events & under-informed for what to do when they happen, both whilst in the Army and on civvy street. We believe that opportunities to build a secure future shouldn’t just be for those in the know and, at My Ark, we are passionate about making it easier to think ahead. We remove the barriers to ‘life’ and financial information, opening up opportunities for life-changing decisions, for everyone.”

Mark Williams is a regulated financial adviser with Surrey based Price Ferguson Wealth Management. He began his career in 2001 with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. With a 20-year career spent in financial services and a deep interest in tax and investments, Mark is passionate about bringing his knowledge and experience to help individuals and families navigate the world of financial planning.

“Most people find the world of tax and investments enormously complicated. At one end of the spectrum those with a lack of awareness of available financial planning strategies feel daunted and in the dark. Meanwhile, those who may be better informed can feel overwhelmed and paralysed by the vast array of options available to them. As a financial adviser, it gives me huge satisfaction to help my clients develop solid financial plans which enable them to relax and live their lives to the full.”

About the RFS Career Academy

The RFS Career Academy was launched in 2017 when they realised more needed to be done to assist military spouses into work. As early pioneers of recognising that employed life and personal life are not separate entities, but rather two halves of a whole life, the Career Academy aims to support spouses in developing in both areas.

Their purpose is to provide members of the military community with the tools to develop, grow and gain confidence in the workplace. They work in collaboration with progressive, supportive businesses to develop and provide tailored coaching, mentoring, training and job preparation to help community members back into fulfilling employment.
