If you (or your partner) have an assignment order for a European Joint Support Unit location (EJSU) it is a good idea to do some pre-arrival research. Not only is life in Europe different to what you are accustomed to in the UK, there will be variances between the different countries, and the locations within those countries – from culture, politics, religious beliefs and customs, to currency and the spoken language.

If you are on an accompanied tour it will be even more important to do your research before you go, to ensure your family’s needs will be met.

Here we give you an overview of the EJSU and share with you the best sources of locational information for destinations within it:

About the European Joint Support Unit

The EJSU provides the necessary Firm Base support to Service Personnel, civilians and their families serving within NATO and as exchange/liaison officers across Europe and Turkey. Its delivery is supported by a hub and spoke model with a headquarters based in Mons Belgium and then National Support Elements in countries across Europe. EJSU collaborate with other partner organisations including Defence Children Services, Armed Forces Families & Safeguarding, Defence Infrastructure Organisation and the appropriate Medical and Dental providers for each site.
