Registered charity, the Give Us Time Team has some wonderful breaks with Park Holidays UK and well worth looking into. Park Holidays have donated so many breaks in lots of different locations with family friendly parks and accommodation. All details of the dates, parks, facilities etc are on the Give Us Time website.
How it works
Holiday accommodation is generously donated by holiday companies or private owners. Give Us Time then matches these with British service personnel who are in need of rest and quality time to spend with their families.
Give Us Time holidays are almost always accommodation only, except in exceptional circumstances.
The team takes commercially let accommodation donated by owners of holiday groups, hotels, holiday homes and timeshares, and matches them with military families in need of rest, rehabilitation and reconnection with their families. In this case Park Holidays UK.
Who is eligible
In order to be eligible for these services you and your family must be in need by virtue of: bereavement, physical or mental injuries, financial need, or having been separated for long periods of time due to deployment, or a combination of the above.
As the charity offers time away to reconnect, they will also consider the last time you and your family have been on holiday. If you have already been on a holiday the year prior to that in which you want to register for the services, they may not be able to assist you unless there are exceptional circumstances: Priority is given to those families who have never had a family holiday or had one more than one year before registering.
If you have already benefitted from these services you cannot book another holiday through the website or any other holiday offered by Give Us Time for three years, unless there are exceptional circumstances. That said, if there is spare capacity and an established need, we may be able to make an exception. If six weeks prior to the holiday start date the break is not booked we will contact you and offer you the possibility to book the break.
Nominate a family
The team aims to help families in need – whether they have been separated for long periods of time due to deployment or are struggling with financial or family difficulties, physical injuries or mental health issues. Anyone can nominate a family, or you can register yourself.
Founded in 2012
Give Us Time was founded in 2012 and established as a Charity in 2013. Having worked as both an Army medic and later as Secretary of State for Defence, Liam Fox MP, knew all too well the affect that military life can have on service families, and was aware that homecomings are not always as easy as might be expected. The family unit is the rock that underpins military life, be that the military family or the individual service families, who themselves form a close community on which military personnel often depend. Give Us Time was set up with cross-party support in parliament and the charity now has a growing support base within the public.
