The Royal Air Force was prominent at the ‘virtual’ National Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony held on 25th November where it was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the coveted Macro Employer Award category.
Back for its 17th year, the Awards recognise the best of England’s apprentice employers, apprentices, rising stars and individuals who champion apprenticeships; particularly poignant given the many challenges faced during this extremely testing year.
This year sees the Royal Air Force celebrate the Centenary of the establishment of its Apprenticeships scheme. Fully committed to its apprenticeships programme, it offers opportunities to over 90% of its recruits with over 3,400 apprentices on the programme at any one time. One of the largest providers in the country, the Royal Air Force was recently listed at No.10 in the prestigious Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers List.
The Royal Air Force sponsored the Apprenticeship Champion Award which recognises the dedicated people who give their all to promoting apprenticeships. Particularly apt this year with apprenticeships a prominent part of the Government’s post COVID-19 strategy for economic recovery. Group Captain Claire O’Grady presented the Award to Jenny Taylor of IBM UK.
