Established on 1 April 1918, the Royal Air Force is the oldest independent air force in the world. The RAF is proud of its illustrious history and the generations of professional, highly trained men and women who are central to its many achievements.
Now in it’s Centenary year, RAF100 will showcase the very best of the RAF, through international, national, regional and local events and initiatives. It will encompass elements such as a Centenary service in Westminster Abbey and a parade down The Mall. Additionally, it will involve key national and international sporting events, youth education initiatives for schools and a tour of static aircraft to major UK cities.
As part of the RAF100, four of the RAF associated charities will work together under the banner of the RAF100 Appeal; bringing together each charity’s proud history of support, to fully realise the fundraising opportunities the Centenary offers.
As valued members of the RAF Family, you can play a part in making the Centenary a special year. The RAF100 website has details of major events and how to get involved at a local, regional and national level. Help us to commemorate those that have gone before, celebrate the skills and talents of those currently in the Service and inspire a future generation to help write the next chapter in our astonishing history.
