AREA WELFARE MANAGER
Hours: 37 ½ hours per week
Salary: *£31,894 – £33,375(*) Starting salary – pay rise pending Jan 18
The Royal Air Forces Association is a membership organisation and registered charity that provides welfare support to the RAF family.
Last year the Association carried out 13,800 home visits, told thousands of bedtime stories to children whose parents were away on operations, and gave tailored holidays to 2,500 RAF veterans, widows and family at our Wings Break hotels.
We are looking to appoint an Area Welfare Manager to organise and provide support to clients seeking welfare assistance. You will ensure that people eligible for support receive an efficient and effective service in line with the Association’s welfare policies and where we are unable to help, that people are signposted to alternative sources of support.
The role is office based in Edinburgh with an occasional requirement to visit beneficiaries or caseworkers within the area.
You will be responsible for managing c200 volunteers providing them with supervision, support and guidance including allocating and managing caseloads. On occasions you will deliver presentations and support welfare training. Your role will be to foster and develop good working relationships with other charities and statutory services in the welfare sector.
Our ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of Health and Social Care, welfare benefits and systems, excellent communication and IT skills, experience of leading and managing others and be able to work on their own initiative. You must be a proactive and decisive problem-solver who actively seeks ways to improve our services and processes.
A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check/ Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check is also a requirement for this post.

WELFARE PROJECTS EXECUTIVE

The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is the RAF’s leading welfare charity. The Welfare Directorate is responsible for understanding and meeting the social welfare needs of those in the RAF Family, from those currently serving in the RAF and their families through to veterans of all ages. This is achieved through the delivery of a wide range of services, initiatives and programmes which last year helped over 65,000 individuals.
We are seeking an individual who is goal oriented and highly organised to manage a number of programmes, predominantly within the Serving RAF community. Working for the Head of Welfare Programmes & Development, the post holder will be responsible for researching, managing and implementing a range of projects and initiatives, including managing contracts with external providers, as well as a grants programme across the RAF. The successful candidate will ideally have recent experience of the RAF, excellent analytical and written skills, and experience of working in partnership with other organisations. The role is office based in London, with occasional travel.

AREA VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

The Royal Air Forces Association is the charity that supports the RAF family. From an injured airman fighting to get back on his feet, to a child missing a parent working away from home, to a WWII veteran in need of companionship, the Association is there.
We are looking for a volunteer coordinator, who is articulate, confident, a good people person and is able to motivate others. We need them to help us recruit volunteers for a wide variety of exciting volunteering roles. The post holder will take responsibility for recruitment of volunteers in the Association’s South East & Eastern Area and the Northern Area and respond to any volunteering enquiries.
Working for the Volunteer Manager and alongside the area team, the Area Volunteer Coordinator will provide centrally based networking, publicity, and administrative services for all regional volunteering recruitment activities. They will help us to build contacts with the communities within their region and undertake occasional recruitment events and talks from which we recruit volunteers.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in volunteering and an appreciation of the value of volunteers, be Office 2010 or higher proficient, have previous administrative and recruiting experience, as well as the ability to organise interesting and interactive events or talks.

Reporting to the Hotel Manager, our Head Chef at Richard Peck House will lead a small team of catering and kitchen support staff ensuring that the delivery of high quality catering services is maintained for all guests and visitors to the hotel. The Head Chef will also ensure that the service will comply to all statutory requirements required of organisations delivering a catering service and paying particular attention to the policies and procedures set by the Royal Air Forces Association (in line with the Care Quality Commission regulation) which provide for a happy, safe, secure and beneficial respite break for guests.
The ideal candidate will hold an appropriate food safety qualification at level 2, a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the preparation, cooking and presentation of high quality meals in a setting catering for larger numbers of people e.g. restaurant, care home, school etc. In addition to this, they will also have the knowledge of menu planning and nutritional requirements for older people, working knowledge of Health and Safety at Work requirements, and the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with guests, employees and visitors.
