The ultimate challenge in memory of our fallen heroes and in support of their children left behind.

Remembrance is a time of honouring our fallen heroes and this November The Scotty Challenge is being launched in memory of those who lost their lives fighting for our country, and in support of their children left behind.

Not for the fainthearted, The Scotty Challenge is a high endurance workout that has been created by respected performance coach and athlete Tanya Haeffele.

The Scotty Challenge has been organised by Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the charity for bereaved British Forces children.

Founded by war widow Nikki Scott in 2010, Scotty’s Little Soldiers was set up in memory of Nikki’s husband and father to her two children, Corporal Lee Scott, following his death in Afghanistan in 2009.

Scotty’s does lots of things to support children who have lost a parent who served in the British Armed Forces including sending them on holidays, posting them birthday and Christmas presents and remembering the anniversary of their parent’s death.   The charity also provides personal development assistance for the children through educational grants and access to professional bereavement counselling, as well as arranging events where bereaved forces children from all over the country come together to have a great time and form friendships with kids in the same situation.

Anyone wishing to take on The Scotty Challenge can register at thescottychallenge.com and see what the workout entails.

The Scotty Challenge can be done anytime, from anywhere that is suitable for such a challenge, and can be done individually or as a group. The Scotty Challenge goes live from 1st November and participants are encouraged to post their time to add a competitive element.  Many people are planning to take on the challenge over Remembrance weekend in memory of those who have lost their lives in the service of their country.

“Our servicemen and women gave so much and this is a way to honour them, as well as thinking about the loved ones, particularly children, they left behind,” says Nikki Scott, founder of Scotty’s Little Soldiers.  “The workout Tanya has created is extremely tough, but we hope people will enjoy the challenge.  We’re looking forward to being updated on everyone’s finishing times.”

Taking part is free but there is an option to make the suggested donation of £10 (or other) to raise funds which will help to provide long term support for the children of the fallen.

All proceeds from the challenge will go directly to Scotty’s Little Soldiers (charity number 1136854).
