An amendment to JSP 464_Tri-Service Accommodation Regulations, dual serving couples (married/civil partnership) will be entitled to Service Family Accommodation (SFA) at the midway point between duty stations.
- To alleviate the difficulties faced when both members of a couple are serving (married / civil partnership) Chief of Defence People (CDP) has instigated an agile policy change in respect of accommodation provision, designed to support dual serving couples in Defence.
- Dual serving couples, who desire to be co-located at the midway point between duty stations, will be entitled to Service Family Accommodation (SFA) instead of eligible. This means that where SFA is unavailable an entitlement to Substitute SFA (SSFA) now exists.
- As duty stations could be up to 100 miles apart, eligibility to access Single Living Accommodation (SLA) is supported for either the PStat Cat 1s or 5s, who may be authorised to occupy SLA by their Local Service Commanders where availability exists and where there is a service reason.
- These changes provide additional benefit for 4% (6,150) of our 148,500 Service Personnel (SP) who are in dual serving couples, noting that 1% of SP currently occupy SFA (1,472) with the majority, of 64% (937) being ORs.
